10.28.18 – Who Are We? Why Do We Exist?

  1. What was something that you worked hard to prepare for went really well?  How did it make you feel?
  2. What was something that you failed to prepare for or wish you had prepared more for?  How did it make you feel?
  3. Matthew 28:18-20 is often referred to as the Great Commission that was said to Jesus’ disciples before He ascended into heaven.  What do you think of when you read or hear this statement?  Do you feel those instructions were just for His immediate disciples or for us as well?  Why or why not?
  4. If you think the Great Commission is for Christians today, then on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being great), how do you feel Christians are doing at fulfilling the Great Commission?  Share your thoughts.
  5. Read I Peter 3:14-15.  What does this verse instruct us to do?  How prepared or ready do you feel in sharing the hope you have using a scale of 1 to 10?
  6. If we are honest, most of us feel at least a little unprepared or underprepared to share with others the hope that we have in Christ.  Read II Peter 1:3-9.  What stands out to you?  What in these verses encourage you?
  7. Read John 15:1-5.  What warning does Jesus give us in this passage?  What promises does Jesus give us in this passage?
  8. What is one thing you can do to this week to be better prepared to follow Jesus yourself?  What is one thing you can do this week to help someone else to better follow Jesus?

PERSONAL REFLECTION THIS WEEK:

  1. Read Joshua 1.  What is one overwhelming theme or what is one thing that God repeats over and over to Joshua?
  2. Take 15 minutes this week to just be still before the Lord.  Ask the Lord to reveal anything He wants to say to you or impress upon your heart.  Take a few minutes to write any impression down.
