4.14.19 – Stand In The Gap

  1. Read Genesis 18:16—19 :29 BEFORE you meet with your group this week.
  2. It seemed that Lot lived so long in Sodom that he was no longer an effective witness for God.  His environment shaped him, more than he shaped his environment.  Do those you go to school or work with see you as a witness for God or are you just one of the crowd, blending in unnoticed?
  3. It seems to me that in order to make a ‘difference’, you have to be ‘different’ in your faith walk.  Agree?  Or disagree?  Why?
  4. Put yourself in Lot’s shoes.  Do you ever wonder if Lot realized that things had degenerated?  Do you ever think he thought about leaving Sodom on his own?  What do you think had such a hold on him?
  5. Put your own shoes back on.  Have there been times in your life that you were blind to the things around you?  Was there anything that you thought about leaving?  What made it hard or what had a hold on you?
  6. How have you experienced the mercy of God in your life?
  7. What are your thoughts on the justice of God?  Do you think God is fair?  Discuss.
  8. What is one thing from the message and Genesis 18 & 19 that you wished pastor would have given more attention or emphasis to?
  9. Who has been someone in your life that has stood in the gap for you?  In what ways did they stand in the gap for you?
  10. Who would God have you to stand in the gap for?  In what ways can you tangibly stand in the gap for them?
